Ellen and I have been travelling to Honduras and also leading Mission trips there since 2000. Ellen has a 6-month sabattical from the University of Indianapolis beginning in January 2008. It has been a dream of Ellen's for us to take our entire family on an extended mission trip like this for a long time. There are certain hurdles to overcome, but we are praying about all those and believe God will help us make this a smooth trip. My employer, Veros Partners, Inc., has been excellent at allowing me to take an unpaid leave-of-absence. This is a busy time of year for our firm and the timing for me being gone is not ideal. However, the clients will be well taken care of by our entire team during my absence. We will be gone from approximately mid-February to the first week of April. We are officially going through World Gospel Mission and will be in or near Tegucigalpa - the capital of Honduras.
We are not exactly sure what we will be doing just yet...but in the past we have been involved with Project Manuelito, the Micah Dump Project, Hospital Loma de Luz, and Habitat for Humanity. We will definitely be involved with Project Manuelito on this trip -- working with kids. Project Manuelito is focused especially for girls and boys between 5 and 12 years that have been abandoned by their parents. They have a location in Talanga where the kids live, and go to school after they are rescued from the tough streets of Tegucigalpa.
As you get your updates from this Blog, please keep us in your prayers for safety, health, finances, and that God will use us as ambassadors to spread the good news of Jesus to others in Honduras.
